Welcome to OpenDance!

Because you want to dance,
not manage spreadsheets.

OpenDance is web-based registration application created to service two different types of dance events in dance community today: small start-up events who do not have access to a web programmer to run their registration, and the the largest dance events in the country. We wanted to make an application that small events could use who didn't have a web programmer in their back pocket to run their web registration.

As it stands today, almost every major event has its own system, which represents a massive investment on the part of a ton of programmers who are active in their dance scenes. OpenDance was created to meet the needs of both the biggest and the smallest events in the country by providing a customizable, lightweight, and powerful web application.

Perhaps the most interesting part is that, in many ways, the biggest events organizers are actually limited by the capabilities of their registration systems - because over time important information about registrants changes, and all registration systems currently in use have a 1-time sign-up registration.

In these cases, the user is unable to edit their information after they sign up- which can be as far in advance as 3 months - ample time for a flight to change, to meet a new dancer they would like to be hosted by, or decide that they do, in fact, want a T-shirt or to sign up for the J&J.
